(Editor’s Note:  That’s Cygnus up there.  We’ve not yet gotten over our fascination with the Astronomy Picture of the Day from NASA.  Still our taxpayer dollars and all that.)

It’s getting on towards summer and we’re feeling a little antsy here at Citizen Dick world headquarters.  It’s a little harder to roll out of the rack in the morning and a little harder to tuck in at night; my mind is turning away from my students and towards my lawn, my free time and the spate of killer shows coming to Cleveland in June and July (more on that in a future post).  What does this mean for you?  Simply, more tunes.  Given Kevin’s and my impending work-free status, we’re pondering some new features, including “Afternoon Delight,” were we’d hit you with a post-lunch sweet tune every out of the blue.  This track from the upcoming second LP from New York City hipsters Soft Black was in my e-mail when I got home today.  I’ve listened to it six times since I opened it.  Just pushing the back button when it finishes and letting it wash over me over and over.  It’s summery.  It’s fresh.  It’s easy on the ears.  I don’t have any sort of critical statement about it other than it’s a tangible reminder, for me, that I’m going to have a few more hours a day to listen to music and enjoy the universe in exactly six school days.  For you suckers with year-round jobs, I’m sorry for rubbing it in.  Consider Soft Black’s “Lions” my apology.  For the rest of my teaching brethren:  hang tight!  Summer is soon!
