Mrs. Citizen and I are going to the art museum and points beyond this afternoon.  It’s a short drive to the museum (twelve minutes maybe), and then another six or so to our next destination (MOCA), fifteen or so more to the grocery store and then ten or more back to the house.  All told, we’ll be in the car for right around forty minutes.  This works out perfectly as that’s almost the exact recorded time of The Builders and the Butchers eponymous first record.  We’ll have it turned up loud and will be hollering along with most of the lyrics.  We’ve been a bit enthralled with The Builders and the Butchers since their appearance in Cleveland in July.  Rob and I went into the show as tentative fans and left completely converted; the rest of the dicks quickly picked up on the brilliance of the band and, in short, they’ve been playing at Citizen Dick World Headquarters more or less non-stop since.  Prime example:  I rolled into work early yesterday to type a couple of tests; it took me about forty minutes and I had that eponymous record blasting the whole time.

If you haven’t heard the three tracks below yet, get ready for your mind to be blown.  The first two are from the first record and the third is from a split EP.  They played all three at the Beachland in July and raised the stakes a bit.  (In “When it Rains,” for instance, they add a killer “2,3,4″ before the chorus kicks in.  It raised the hackles.)  They’re still touring and are, essentially, a can’t miss act.  After all, you don’t want to be the guy who misses this.
