Nature’s cool

It’s getting close to that time of the year when the rivers are filled with trout. One of the things I love most about Cleveland is “Steelhead Alley”, it’s one of the best places in the world to get into a battle with a steelhead trout. They are big, they are strong, and they’ll bite you, ok maybe they won’t bite you, but they have teeth, so don’t put your hands in their mouth. Some people love to eat them, I prefer to throw them back. Steelhead’s pretty tastey, but I hate cleaning fish. There’s nothing better than getting down to the river right before sun up on a winter morning. Fog is always an extra bonus. I prefer fly fishing because it definitely reduces the chances of injuring the fish, but haven’t quite got the hang of it. Casting it is easy, but getting the right depth and gauging the flow is where I struggle. So I’m definitely excited to start getting out there one of these weekends.

I’m not sure if The Stevenson Ranch Davidians like to fish, but I can guarantee you I will be listening to their tune “Feelin’ Good” on my first long early morning drive to one of our hot spots, unless I’m not driving, in that case, I will probably be listening to Third Eye Blind or something. I really dig the chill blues vibe coming from TSRD. Their band name has the blatant feel of a cult to it and some of the songs do sound like something David Koresh might have approved of (in a good way of course). You got your toe tapping, boot stomping blues and your sitting around the campfire drinking brews sing-along tunes.
