People in our RSS feeds probably just got confused. No, I'm not refering to Barzin, the talented musician who leaves me sad and bitter about bad breakups, but Barzin, the insanely talented British instrumentalist/hip-hop/remix/mashup our pals at Slowcoustic, along with Dev at Hype Machine Radio, humorously stumbled upon last night via twitter mishap. It's really a pretty important choice this morning to head over to his busy, but easy to figure out website. In December, he did an entire 10 song remix album of Beastie Boys tracks, and every single one is, perhaps, the greatest thing I've ever heard on the internet. I've posted his killer organic reworking of "Sure Shot" below, but head over to his site and pick up the rest of the loot, for free. He's got his fingers in a lot of holes, and has plans to release his first album of original material, Food For Thought, later on this year. Listening to the expansive and talented musicianship he attaches to the Beastie Boys tunes is enough for me. I'm sold. The orginal stuff has to be good, doesn't it? I've also posted a mashup that, upon first blush, doesn't make a bit of sense. But it's freaking killer, too. One stop shop. Barzin has a whole slew of material up on his site.
Beastie Boys – Sure Shot (Barzin Remix)
The Cure vs Xzibit – Close to Paparazzi (Barzin Remix)

“Sure Shot” without “Howlin’ for Judy” isn’t Sure Shot at all. I’m usually all in on remixes, but this one messes with my youth. Not cool, Barzin, not cool.
That said, I think The Cure might be the greatest house band ever.
