SXSW is still in flux for me, but rest assured, if there was one act I'd crawl through taco grease and bar sludge to see, it's The Megaphonic Thrift.  We've posted a lead track from the band's upcoming March release, Decay Decoy already, but they've "officially" released the first single for the record as of this morning.  We've put our ears to this album, and we're 100 percent amped about its release.  The quietly crowned 'best show at SXSW 2010' has a got a grab bag full of bombastic and largely grandiose arrangements set and ready to pound your eardrums in March (via Sonic Union).  If you're traveling to Texas for the festival, pencil this one in as a necessity.  "Candy Sin" embodies a lot of the qualities that make the album an early frontrunner for end-of-year recognition (and it hasn't even seen the light of day yet).  The guitar blitzkrieg at the track's opening drops into slacking verses intermittently splattered with screeching crescendos and tension filled angst.  As mentioned previously, there's never a drop in consistency despite the angular, aggressive aural flashes and assaults that fly in and out of the songs.  "Candy Sin" works like much of the rest of the album.  The shifting and movements are evocative, mesmerizing, and full of hook-laden undertones that keep it from jumping out through the ceiling completely – even if the sonics threaten to knock your roof off.
